Most major music genres from hip-hop to country to Latin have their own televised award shows and now electronic is getting set to join that group. Paul Oakenfold is teaming up with Fox and Los Angeles-based production company TV4 Entertainment to create and produce the first annual Electronic Music Awards and Foundation Award show.

I'm thrilled to be a part of an awards show that finally both recognizes and celebrates, on a primetime platform, one of the biggest music genres in the world today," said executive producer Oakenfold.

The show will be filmed on April 14 at the SLS hotel in Los Angeles around the time of IMS Engage, a dance music conference. According to a press release, it will feature electronic music's leading creatives, executives, artists and visionaries, who are still to be named. Trailblazers and legends in the genre are among those who will be honored next to some of the trending acts of today.

The hour-long show will air on Saturday, April 23 from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. PT on FOX.

It's an honor and a privilege to bring the greatest music in the world to the greatest TV network in the world. We're proud to work with the EMAF to raise money and awareness for good causes, while recognizing the work of the artists in the world's biggest music genre, says Paul Duddridge, executive producer and head of entertainment productions at TV4.

More information will be revealed in the lead up to the awards in April, so stay tuned for that. Head to the show's website to vote for your favorite artist starting on Feb. 15.
