Stoke hasn't had the best luck recently, after being knocked out of both the FA Cup and Capital One League Cup tournaments within a week of play. Manager Mark Hughes recently admitted that a victory against United would mean a lot to the team.
"It's been a difficult week for us all to be perfectly honest," the coach said, according to PremierLeague.com. "I can't fault the players' effort, they gave it a real go [against Palace], but we just lacked that quality that we needed."
Meanwhile, United's Morgan Schneiderlin opened up to the team's website about the fans deserving the best from the squad.
"Our first feeling was disappointment after our performance and losing the game," he said of the recent loss to Southampton FC. "It was hard to take and we understand the frustration of everyone - we feel it as well. We want to bounce back and win now, though. We've had a bit of time to reflect on that last league game and now it's up to us to improve. We want to win in front of our fans because they deserve the best and they are used to the best. We want to give them that."
