Let's hear it for the Canadians! From The Weeknd to Drake to Shawn Mendes and Justin Bieber, the Great White North has offered up some of the most fiery music of the year. Now, they're being celebrated for those contributions with nominations for the 2016 JUNO Awards.
The annual Canadian music award ceremony announced its nominees on Tuesday (Feb. 2), and it should come as no surprise that The Weeknd leads nominees with six nods. Abel Tesfaye is not only up for Songwriter of the Year, but is also running for the Juno Fan Choice Award, Single of the Year ("Can't Feel My Face"), Album of the Year (Beauty Behind the Madness) and more.
Other artists with multiple nominations include pop favorites like Bieber (five nominations), Alessia Cara (four nominations), Drake (five nominations) and Mendes (four nominations).
There's also a touch of non-Canadian flavor. Adele, Hozier, Meghan Trainor, One Direction and Vance Joy are nominated for International Album of the Year.
