Miguel is on a roll with his latest album, Wildheart, which earned him two Grammy nods this year. Wildheart was nominated for Best Urban Contemporary Album and Best R&B song for the track “Coffee.” But the song that he notes as most relatable on the album is “What’s Normal Anyway,” which is a more soulful and introspective track for the singer. Ahead of the 2016 Grammys, Miguel opened up about the new single and just what makes it so special.

When asked about the hardest song to record on his Wildheart album, Miguel had a quick answer for Vulture. “'What’s Normal Anyway,’ just because it’s one of the most introspective songs I’ve released," he said. "That’s a new zone for me. I can’t say that I’m completely comfortable, or was at the time, just putting myself out there. It’s weird because I do it every night onstage; I feel completely at home, but putting it into a song, making yourself vulnerable, was new territory.”

He further talked about the vulnerability of the recording process, remarking, “Not that it made me nervous at all, but it’s just that I never really spoke about it that clearly in my music. It was fun, but it was also a fun challenge. Just saying where I’ve been from, what I’ve experienced in the simplest terms. It’s the song that people connect to most on the album.”

Miguel is a two-time nominee for the 58th Annual Grammy Awards, and was the latest added to a line-up as a performer along with Alabama Shakes. He adds some much-needed R&B to the line-up of performers. Taylor Swift, Adele, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, James Bay and others will also be gracing the stage for the event, which will take place on Monday, Feb. 15.
