Holly Holm stunned the world with her devastating knock out of Ronda Rousey at UFC 193 to become the new UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion. She dominated Rousey the whole fight, with her superior boxing skills and footwork. Rousey threw an abundance of punches, and chased Holm around the octagon, but never seemed to match the former professional boxer. Eventually, she was able to win the fight with a kick to the head. The previously undefeated Rousey had lost her air of invincibility, and Holly Holm was now the focal point of the growing athletic competition. Her fame has lead her all to exclusive corners of the entertainment industry previously unknown to the obscure fighter, including an interaction with Jay Z and Beyonce. Apparently, though she recognized Jay, Holm asked the famous rapper to introduce her to his wife.
According to ESPN, Jay Z and Beyonce joined Holm in attendance of the Miguel Cotto-Canelo Alvarez fight. Jay represents Cotto on his Roc Nation Sports management company, and was disappointed to see one of his star athletes lose in such a decisive fashion. After the fight, Holm introduced herself to the famous couple in the VIP area.
Holly Holm stopped by KRQE in Albuquerque to discuss the incident. She told the audience, "I met Jay Z and he says this is my wife and I say, 'Oh, hi what is your name?' That is what I do when I meet someone's wife."
She continued, "As I am shaking her hand I am thinking 'why did I just say that?'"
Fortunately for Holm, Beyonce took the incident in stride and told the champion fighter not to worry about it. However, it's probably safe to assume the couple was a little taken aback, as Beyonce has probably not heard this question in years.
