It's finally June, which means the world is just halfway to another Christmas, North America is on the cusp of summer and the annual BET Awards are on the horizon. Today (June 3), the music channel announced the first round of performers for its annual music celebration, and it's bringing in some of the biggest names in R&B and hip-hop.

Drake, Lil Wayne, Usher and Pharrell Williams have all been tapped to perform their big hits on stage during the June 29 ceremony, according to Complex.

In addition to those four musical monsters, legendary singer Lionel Richie will be receiving a special tribute during a presentation for his BET Lifetime Achievement Award.

The inclusion of Drake and Pharrell come as no surprise. The two musical giants each have three nominations, including nods for Best Male Hip-Hop Artist and Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, respectively.

Women are notably absent from the roster at the BET Awards... with no Rihanna, Beyoncé, Janelle Monae, Angel Haze or Nicki Minaj lined up quite yet, despite their massive talents and multiple nominations for this year's BET Awards. (Beyoncé leads this years nominations with four, alongside her husband Jay Z.)

Hopefully, this is just the first round of announcements and the channel will bring in a little gender diversity in its performances.

The annual BET Awards will air on June 29 at 8 p.m., logically on BET.
