City manager Manuel Pellegrini has been facing some backlash from fans after debuting a number of young players against Chelsea FC this weekend, losing an important FA Cup game in the process. Today, he has a stronger lineup prepared, he told the media.
"We will have a similar squad to the one that played the last game in the Premier League. We had to make a difficult decision about the FA Cup game against Chelsea [on Sunday]. We had only 13 first-team players available and we could not afford to lose more, so we had to sacrifice one of the tournaments." The manager (who is set to be replaced by Josep Guardiola at the end of the season) said, according to UEFA.com. "But now we have the intention to continue in all competitions. We won our group in the Champions League and we'll try to go as far as we can."
Meanwhile, Kyiv boss Serhiy Rebrov has brushed off reports of City's form faltering recently.
"City have scored more than any other team in the Premier League [alongside Leicester City] and their recent defeats mean nothing," the Dynamo coach said, according to Goal.com.
