Supergroups are possibly the most hit-or-miss ventures in the music industry. Those attempting to make such a band come together must tread lightly because, no matter what, you're going to a lot of guff about the passé subject from fans and critics. Luckily for the unfortunately named supergroup Giraffe Tongue Orchestra (don't give up on them just yet!), the members featured in this outfit are too enticing to ignore. Musicians from Alice in Chains, Dethklok, Mastodon, The Dillinger Escape Plan and The Mars Volta make up this band, and thanks to some Instagram videos that premiered this week, you can listen to clips of new songs below.

Alice in Chains singer William DuVall, Mastodon guitarist Brent Hinds, Dillinger Escape Plan guitarist Ben Weinman, Dethklok bassist Pete Griffin, and The Mars Volta drummer Thomas Pridgen make up the oddly named band, according to UPROXX, and the first tastes of new songs has us pretty excited about what's to come.

Again, excitement about a supergroup is rare (see: The Hollywood Vampires, Velvet Revolver, Audioslave, etc.)

As you can imagine, this supergroup featuring members of heavier, guitar-driven rock n' roll bands and soaring vocals sounds like something fans of this type of music should pay attention to as 2016 continues.

Actress and singer Juliette Lewis was originally set to front the band, but was recently replaced by DuVall, who might have more of a draw for the right kind of fans anyway.
