"Never Walk Alone" is arguably the best soccer stadium anthem that fans of the beautiful game sing at important moments, namely for Liverpool FC, but it's universally accepted at every football game. So when a Bundesliga game between Borussia Dortmund and Mainz 05 was overshadowed by the death of a fan at the stadium, a triumphant chant from those in attendance sang out the Rodgers and Hammerstein tune made popular by Gerry and the Peacemakers.

 Both Dortmund and Mainz are among the many football teams that have adopted the anthem. Once news of a fan dying due to a heart attack spread throughout the stadium, a triumphant moment in football took place.

A moment of silence was followed up by the most common soccer stadium practice, an appropriate chant. "Never Walk Alone" is a powerful song that reminds supporters of camaraderie. If there was ever a situation to sing the song, this unfortunate death is a clear example.
