Chicago hip-hop artist Jelani Lateef, aka J Fury, has been spreading social awareness through personal lyrics and catchy beats for over a decade, but he isn't showing signs of slowing down. His latest mixtape release, Cold Days and Dark Night, is a testament to his artistry and his ambition of making a change through his music. We have a stream of this 14-track mixtape below for you to listen to, and also some links to download it.

The Windy City is certainly a breeding ground for truthful lyricists, but we think that Jelani stands out amongst the others.

If you're a fan of the current sound of hip-hop, you might skip over a number of these tracks, but Jelani's lyrics are definitely worth a listen. While showing off a distinct swagger in his verses, he also stays humble. Jelani's all about the message and his story, so he doesn't waste a syllable on bragging or other outplayed hip-hop topics that flood the radio these days.

What's most impressive is the production value. The tracks are clean and powerful sounding, matching the flow of the rapper.
