Fifth Harmony are living "The Life," and they're proving that with a sparkling new track off their forthcoming album 7/27. Just a few weeks after dropping the album's lead single "Work from Home," the girls are back with a shimmery new song, and it's pretty much a total 180 from the first taste of their sophomore record.
While "Work from Home" was a sexually-charged R&B/pop hybrid, "The Life" brings it all back to Fifth Harmony's bubblegum roots with harmless lyrics about living the pop star high life.
"No stress baby you can find us / Getting down on a beach in Dubai / Pool side sipping on a Mai Tai / Double up, run it back on my mind / This is the life, life," Fifth Harmony sing in the shiny second verse and pre-chorus. It's all very jealousy-inducing and harmless pop music fun, which is a nice balance to the constant double entendres of "Work from Home."
Unfortunately, like most 5H singles and hype tracks, Camila Cabello takes lead vocal duties in the pre-chorus and chorus. While her high pitch plays nicely against the lower synths of this track, it would be refreshing to give, say Normani Hamilton or Dinah Jane Hansen a crack at a big solo.
"The Life" is a hype track from Fifth Harmony's new album 7/27 and the second track to officially be released on May 20. The album is being officially led by the new single "Work From Home," which was released earlier this month.
