Looks like the legendary Jerry Lee Lewis is going to have one heck of a year considering his upcoming album and memoir release. The 78-year-old pianist is gearing up to drop both his third album in a decade, Rock & Roll Time, as well as his book, Jerry Lee Lewis: His Own Story, on October 28.

The musician recently shared the forthcoming album's title track with Rolling Stone, which he originally co-wrote with Kris Kristofferson back in 1974. Lewis claims the 11-track LP organically turned into a rock & roll record. "That's just the way it came out," he told the mag.

Rock & Roll Time will feature collaborations with the likes of Doyle Bramhall II, Rolling Stones members Keith Richards and Ron Wood, Neil Young and the E Street Band's own Nils Lofgren, to name a mere few.

His upcoming memoir, which was co-authored by Pulitzer Prize winner Rick Bragg, has been a project of just about two years, of which Lewis believes the end copy to be "magnificent," as he tells RS.

The book will be a "third-person recount" of Lewis' life.

"All these other books have come out," he says, "and there wasn't no truth to any of them. I just waited 'til the right time to do mine. I thought I'd set the record straight."

Though both are not going to be released until October, Lewis is keeping busy until then with two shows planned for July 5 at Harrah's Rincon in Valley Center, California, and a set at B.B. King's Blues Club and Grill in New York on October 30.
