Calvin Harris and Taylor Swift have split after 15 months of dating, but sources say that the break-up was amicable. 26-year-old Swift and 32-year-old Harris had recently celebrated their one-year anniversary this past March with a tropical vacation.
According to sources for People, there were a few reasons for the split but no one cheated.
“Harris said on multiple occasions that he was intimidated by Taylor, which is why he would not attend any events where she was being honored, or any awards shows unless he was nominated,” a source said to the publication. “Taylor is an independent young woman, and she realizes it will take a very secure man to handle her success.”
Reportedly, Swift wasn’t at all surprised when the two pulled the plug on their relationship, saying that the age difference was also a factor. Citing ongoing issues, the source made it clear that the two will not be getting back together.
According to the friend, they are also still on good terms and that Harris “very much admires her as a person and what she has been able to do with her career. This is what drew him to her in the first place… she works incredibly hard for the things that she believes in. He always saw that as an amazing quality. They are still friendly."
Swift had reportedly been spending time in Nashville, Tennessee with her family prior to the split being officially announced.
A source also said that their day and night personalities were also a factor in the split. Swift’s extrovert ways and huge group of friends differed from Harris’s quieter, more introverted personality. “He’s super chill and very quiet,” the source said. “He just doesn’t like the hoopla… with the squad and all of that. He doesn’t like to have cameras in his face all the time. He’s a private guy.”
The split may come as a surprise to some following the romantic photos posted on their tropical romantic vacation this past March. The Telegraph also reported that the two had recently celebrated their one-year anniversary, where Harris gave Swift an engraved locket and she reportedly baked a cake for him.
