France Bean Cobain may lose something more precious than just her assets during her divorce from The Eeries frontman Isaiah Silva, who is reportedly intent on keeping Kurt’s guitar. The guitar in question is the very one that Cobain played during his famous MTV Unplugged performance.

Silva has asserted that Frances gifted him with the 1959 Martin D-18E during their marriage and is now refusing to return the instrument. The guitar is estimated to be valued at millions of dollars and Consequence of Sound reports that is the last instrument Cobain played before his tragic death in 1994. Frances Bean denies that she ever gave Silva the guitar.

“It’s a treasured heirloom of the family,” mother Courtney Love said to TMZ when approached at the Los Angeles International Airport. “It’s not [Silva’s] to take … We’re very close, and [France] never planned on doing that.” She also referred to the marriage between the two as a “dangerous and toxic relationship.”

Silva has also accused Sam Lufti, Love’s former manager, of kidnapping him and stealing his cellphone during the divorce.

Frances filed for divorce from Silva after only 21 months of marriage, citing “irreconcilable differences” in court documents. The two had been together for five years before they married in a small ceremony, where her mother was notably not in attendance.

People reported that 23-year-old Cobain does not want 31-year-old Silva to receive any of the money she’ll inherit from her father’s estate, valued at an estimated $450 million. Court papers further said that any assets from their prior relationship will be returned to Frances as separate property, and her father’s inheritance falls under this category.
