The ongoing feud between Taylor Swift and Kanye West and his wife Kim Kardashian over the rapper's "Famous" song has already escalated, which is what probably prompted Selena Gomez to come to the pop star's aid. However, almost immediately after intervening, social media users starting bashing Gomez because of her tweets.

On Sunday, Kardashian posted a series of Snapchat videos that show West's telephone conversation with Swift. The point of these videos is to show to the public that the rapper had indeed asked the "Shake it Off" singer's permission to refer to her in the lyrics of "Famous," according to CBS News.

This has been the subject of the feud between the parties involved since Swift said that she felt offended and disrespected by West's single.

Gomez, who is a prominent member of Swift's squad, came to her friend's defense by firing off a series of tweets about the issue. She criticized the entire feud by saying that there are other things that people should focus on.

But, after posting her tweets, a number of social media users swarmed on the "Kill Em with Kindness" singer to point out the flaws in her statement. Many of them noted that, like the people she criticized in her posts, she also did not use her own voice to raise awareness about the current pressing issues, such as racial injustice and gun control, U.S. Magazine reported.

Some of them even compared her to Kardashian, who used her blog to talk about the Black Lives Matter movement.

Another user even brought up the death of Christina Grimmie, who was shot and killed after her concert in Orlando in June. The user said that even though Gomez and Grimmie were close friends, the singer did not discuss the issue of gun control following the artist's death.
