Azealia Banks has quit social media again, but this time she says that it is “for good.”

The “212” rapper has always had a tempestuous relationship with the Internet and is known for running her mouth on controversial topics. She often gets herself in trouble and overshadows any talents she may have as a rapper, but this time, Banks really intends to quit.

She has already been banned from Twitter, but this past Tuesday (Aug. 2) Banks posted a message to Facebook explaining her decision to pull the plug on all of her social media feeds.

“I’m seriously tired of peoples feelings,” she wrote in a Facebook essay. “I’m tired of seeing their overly sensitive reactions and responses to everything. I’m tired of having everything I say or do be monitored and I’m tired of being told how I should be behaving.” She continued by announcing that she is done with interacting with both fans and foes on social media.

Banks ended with, “My legacy can’t live and die on the Internet,” in what we can only hope is a new commitment to her music.

Just as recently as last month, Banks took to Facebook to accuse both Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga of plagiarism on Facebook. She alleged in a rant that Swift ripped her off by co-opting a name that was invented for her “Bad Blood” music video and that Gaga was influenced by Banks when choosing the title of her Artpop album.

The post about Gaga using her ideas to name Artpop was removed soon after it was posted.

Banks listed herself as “the most widely criticized and widely ignored artist of all time. While her equally controversial male peers are given an excess of room and public forgiveness to express themselves, (be it through drug trafficking, gun violence, misogyny, domestic violence, homophobia etc,) Azealia Banks has been demonized by the public at large for simply…… tweeting. opponents of Banks often cite her “bad attitude” as the reason for the avid disdain towards her.”

It remains to be seen whether or not anyone will actually notice or miss her online rants while the social media feeds are shut down.
