New year, new relationship? Rumors have been swirling for weeks now about Nick Minaj's relationship status following some cryptic social media posts and The Pinkprint rapper took to Twitter to confirm that she is in fact single, ending her nearly two-year old relationship with Meek Mill. She also confirmed that new music was on the way soon.
"To confirm, yes I am single," she wrote. "Focusing on my work & looking forward to sharing it with you guys really soon. Have a blessed New Year."

It is unclear why they broke up.
Her and the Philadelphia rapper began dating in the beginning of 2015. As one might expect with two artists of their celebrity, notably Nicki Minaj, it was a high profile relationship and they did not shy away from the public eye. They posted many pictures on social media together, made public appearances together and were supportive of each other.
Their relationship was put in the spotlight during the Drake and Meek Mill beef when Drake called out Mill for being the robin to her Batman with lines on "Back to Back" like "Is that a world tour or you girl's tour" or "And shout-out to all my boss b*tches wifin' n*ggas / make sure you hit him with the prenup."
Nicki Minaj did not release an album in 2016 and has not released a full-length project since December 2014 with The Pinkprint. However, she was still present with several features such as on the hit "Side To Side" with Ariana Grande and a successful freestyle of Rae Sremmurd & Gucci Mane's No. 1 record "Black Beatles" titled "Black Barbies."
