The previous season of “The Blacklist” saw Raymond “Red” Reddington (James Spader) lose his entire empire because of Mr. Kaplan (Susan Blommaert). He lost everything in order to save his daughter, Elizabeth “Liz” Keen (Megan Boone). The new season will start with Red trying to rebuild everything.
Before dying, Mr. Kaplan also instructed Tom Keen (Ryan Eggold) to safely deliver the mysterious suitcase to Liz. “The Blacklist” spoilers reveal that he will not fulfill his promise to Mr. Kaplan since he is more curious about what the suitcase contains and why Mr. Kaplan wanted Liz specifically to have it.
Spoilers for the new season of “The Blacklist” indicate that Tom will eventually learn that it contains some skeletal pieces of Liz’ mom and its connection to Red. Wanting to keep Liz safe, he might want to destroy the suitcase so it won’t cause problems for his wife according to a previous Music Times report.
It was first revealed that Alexander Kirk (Ulrich Thomsen) was Liz’ biological father. Because of this, he held her captive because he wanted to get her stem cells to help cure his mysterious illness. It was soon discovered that they were not related at all.
Last season’s finale of “The Blacklist” had a DNA test prove that Red is really Liz’ father. She did not seem to welcome the revelation. EP Jon Bokenkamp revealed that this is because she is terrified of becoming like Red reports TV Guide. Now that she knows they share the same blood, she is scared that she might also have his dark and violent tendencies.
