Carrie Fisher and her dog Gary had a special bond that lives on nearly a year after the actress died on Dec. 27, 2016. This bond was recently witnessed when the pooch watched Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Gary saw a screening of the latest installment to the Star Wars saga with Fisher's former assistant Corby McCoin on Thursday. It was apparent from his reaction upon seeing the late actress' face on screen that he misses her. Gary had the sweetest reaction to seeing his mother appear in The Last Jedi.

ABC7 reporter Veronica Miracle tweeted a video where she caught up with Gary and McCoin at the screening. The French bulldog appeared excited to be at the event. He was even dressed appropriately for the occasion. He wore a BB8 vest and a scarf.

However, aside from his cute outfit, Miracle pointed out Gary's reaction at seeing his mom again. He reportedly "perked up" every time Fisher was on screen. The pooch also sat through the movie on McCoin's lap.

In October, Gary also watched the trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi and commented on how his mother still “looks more beautiful than ever.” A photo surfaced on his Instagram account that showed him glued to the TV screen.

Clearly, the screening was an anticipated moment for Gary. This is not his first appearance in film screenings, though. Fisher, who portrayed General Leia for the last time in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, used to bring her beloved dog to premieres, book tours, and even during her interviews.

Gary was with Fisher at the Star Wars: The Force Awakens European premiere in 2015. He was by his mother's side while she signed books during her book tour at Waterstones, Piccadilly in December 2016. He joined her in New York for a panel interview for Bright Lights in October. All these excursions are documented on Gary's Instagram.

Gary and Fisher were practically joined at the hip. Understandably so, since he was initially adopted as a therapy dog. However, it did not take long for the two to become best friends.

Because of his public exposure, he gained his very own social media following. As of writing, he has 165 thousand followers on his official Instagram account aptly named as Gary Fisher. Likewise, his popularity prompted Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson to include him in his movie. He appears as a space creature in the film.
