Tryangle Films has released Voldemort: Origins Of The Heir, a fan film that explores the life of the Harry Potter villain Lord Voldemort.

The video opens with a reminder that the film is not for commercial purpose nor is it endorsed by or affiliated with Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling and with Warner Bros. Instead, it is a movie made by fans for fans.

Voldemort: Origins Of The Heir stars Italian actors Maddalena Orcali as Grisha McLaggen and Stefano Rossi as Tom Riddle aka the villain Lord Voldemort

The movie follows Grisha, a non-canonical character, as she attempts to steal Tom Riddle's diary, in the hopes of stopping the rise of the villain wizard.

However, the Russian aurors capture Grisha and interrogate her. Viewers learn about Tom's backstory during her interrogation. Flashback scenes reveal that Grisha, an auror and the heir of Gryffindor, and Tom were close friends during their school days at Hogwarts. During his youth, Tom already yearns to be powerful.

"I am the best student Hogwarts ever seen. And one day, I'll be the most powerful wizard in the history of time. I can assure you," Tom tells Grisha after she makes a comment about his muggle blood.

The film weaves through past and present and shows how Tom murdered, lied, and manipulated people to retrieve some very important heirlooms. Voldemort: Origins Of The Heir shows how he got his hands on the objects that contained a piece of his soul. These include the locket from Salazar Slytherin, the Diadem from Rowena Ravenclaw, and Helga Hufflepuff's Cup.

The fan film is not at par with Warner Bros.' Harry Potter films in terms of quality and visual effects, although the wand fight is striking enough. The English dubbing is also an issue since the film is Italian in origin. Regardless, fans of "The Boy Who Lived" and his nemesis Lord Voldemort are already in for a treat with the release of Voldemort: Origins Of The Heir because it is available to watch for free. The fan film also clocks in slightly over 50 minutes, which is not short for a YouTube video.

Voldemort: Origins Of The Heir started out as a Kickstarter campaign. A few filmmakers funded the film but word eventually reached Warner Bros. and the studios suspended the project. However, film director Gianmaria Pezzato later confirmed that Tryangle Films has reached an agreement with Warner Bros. to release the movie in a nonprofit way.
