Grimes is finally coming out with new music! On Twitter, the singer-songwriter confirmed that a new album is scheduled to be released this year.

The confirmation was a response to a fan account that was celebrating six years of Visions, Grimes' third studio album that received critical acclaim and marked her as an important voice in the music industry. The album, released in 2012, was recorded over three weeks using Apple's GarageBand software.

The Canadian musician also provided a timeframe in which the album will be released. As of this writing, the artist has not unveiled the title of the album.

"I would say spring, but realistically fall," she tweeted

Starting The Year Right

Grimes' last album, Art Angels, was released back in 2015 but she has been busy making new music since last year. Around December, the singer tweeted that she has already previewed her new album to her music label and got positive feedback.

On an Instagram video, the singer whose real name is Claire Boucher, also explained that she has been silent on social media for the past few months because she is busy working on the new album.

"In the studio every day trying to legit make something you've never heard before," the 29-year-old said. "Unexplored sonic landscapes. i need another month or 2 of pure unadulterated creativity at which point i will begin finishing tracks. won't let u down."

Not much is known about the follow-up to Art Angels but Stereogum reported that, in 2016, Grimes also mentioned that she wanted the new record to be "chill vibes, downtempos, synth-y s***" and "slower and more reflective."

There also might be songs inspired by the video game, Dark Souls. In a recent livestream on Twitch, she said that she has written a song about the popular action role-playing game by FromSoftware.

In addition, Grimes is going on tour in 2018.

Other Projects

For the past year, the singer has also been involved in another project: she, Joanna Newsom, Kim Gordon, Chloe x Halle, and more appeared on a fashion campaign by the designer fashion brand Rodarte. Actors Hong Chau (Big Little Lies) and Tessa Thompson (Thor: Ragnarok) also appeared in the photo series shot by Autumn de Wilde.

The star-studded Rodarte campaign is not the singer's first foray into the fashion industry. Grimes also collaborated with Stella McCartney on a perfume campaign in 2016.

More recently, she performed at a party thrown by the famous designer in Hollywood that showcased the brand's Autumn 2018 collection and was attended by some of the entertainment industry's hottest stars. St. Vincent and Beck also performed.
