Lovebox Festival History

DJs Groove Armada and Jools founded the Lovebox Festival in 2002. They held the first show at a resident nightclub in London. A year later, the Lovebox Festival hosted its first outdoor event in Clapham Common. Tickets for the event sold out in two days.

During its first outdoor run, 10,000 guests attended the Lovebox Festival. A year later, this figure doubled, and tickets were sold out in three days. In 2005, the festival took place at the Victoria Park in Tower Hamlets where 25,000 guests attended the event. By 2009, the festival increased its capacity to 50,000 guests. The organizers also decided to expand it to a three-day event.

Five years later, the Lovebox Festival went back to its original two-day run. In the same year, Lovebox launched After Dark, a series of parties held on Friday and Saturday at some of the nightclubs in East London. Lovebox also hosted events in Ibiza, Dublin, Newcastle, and more.

Last year's two-day show was dubbed as Lovebox Festival's biggest success. Jamie XX, Solange, Frank Ocean, and Chase & Status performed at that time.
