Run the Jewels has just been named the official ambassadors of this year's Record Store Day. The hip-hop duo is made up of Killer Mike and El-P.

Record Store Day is scheduled for April 21 at various independent record stores across the globe. On Thursday, Run the Jewels made the official announcement by releasing a video, featuring a report by fake news channel RTJ3.

The two female reporters revealed that Run the Jewels are this year's Record Store Day ambassadors before cutting to Mike and El-P's interview. El-P said that the minute he joined the music scene, he knew that he always wanted to be part of the culture.

"Because places like Fat Beats Record in New York City were cornerstones of the community - and that's what we appreciate about the record stores," said El-P.

Other than their recent role as ambassadors, Run the Jewels also announced their own 2018 Record Store Day exclusive deluxe edition box set of Run the Jewels 3. The box includes the duo's remixes and new songs.

Run The Jewels Talks Latest Album

Last month, Run the Jewels talked about their latest album RTJ3 and said that they simply did what they had to do. Mike also said that working on the album with El-P strengthened their friendship even more.

"This record - our friendship - kept me with eternal hope, and it does every day. Making this record with my friend in there, I learned what an ally was. I learned what a brother was. This has meant more to me than even I knew," said Mike.

El-P also has only positive things to say about working with Mike on Run the Jewels 3.

"Not only do you have different dynamics of what's going on in each other's lives but you're in a group and you're making a song, finding those intersecting realities and being able to make jams off them," said El-P.

Run the Jewels debuted on the music scene in 2013 with their free digital download record. A year later, they dropped their Run the Jewels 2 album. Two years later, Run the Jewels 3 was released digitally. A physical release became available in 2017.

Some of the Run the Jewels' songs include "Legend Has It," "Close Your Eyes," "Talk To Me," "Blockbuster Night Part 1," "Oh My Darling Don't Cry," "Lie, Cheat, Steal," "Panther Like A Panther," "Angel Duster," "Don't Get Captured," "Love Again," "Hey Kids," "Oh Mama," and a lot more.
