Mariah Carey recently responded to Katy Perry's message about her. The exchange took place on their respective Twitter accounts.

On Thursday, the American Idol judge told her millions of followers that she heard a rumor about Carey. While the latter worked as a judge on the former Fox reality TV show, she reportedly asked the producers to bring puppies backstage to make her feel happy on set.

Perry did not seem offended by what Carey requested from the staff. In fact, the "Dark Horse" singer even said that it just made her pop star dreams come true.

A few hours later, Carey responded to Perry and said that she only requested for puppies to be brought backstage once. She also urged her followers to name the movie where her "that was one time" statement came from. Fans immediately said that it is from Mean Girls.

During this week's episode of American Idol, Perry celebrated her birthday, and Ryan Seacrest, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie surprised her with adorable puppies inside the room. A few minutes later, Perry's own dog, Nugget, was also brought to the dressing area.

Maria Carey Talks About Being Called A Diva

In 2009, Carey's alleged diva demands made headlines after Kate Garraway of London's Good Morning Television confirmed them.

"I've heard a lot of rumors about her being a diva over the years and guess what? It turns out it's all true! While Mariah was very nice, the amount of people she had in her entourage was hilarious. They outnumbered the entire GMTV crew," said Garraway.

However, Carey previously said that no claims about her being a diva are true.

"I am baffled, shocked and appalled when I am called a diva. I've never done a diva-ish thing in my life," said the singer.

Last year, the "Always Be My Baby" singer finally acknowledged that she might have acted like a diva in the past.

"Actually, I have had diva moments, and then people can't handle it. I guess it's a little intense, because I come from a true diva: My mother is an opera singer. And that's a real diva, you know - Juilliard diva," explained Carey.

The singer said that calling her mom a diva is actually a compliment, and she has been channeling her all her life.
