Katy Perry recently celebrated her birthday on American Idol. The singer turned 33 years old on Oct. 25.

Since the auditions for American Idol were filmed months ago, the footage was only shown in the reboot's third episode on Sunday.

One of the contestants, Cody Martin, received a golden ticket to Hollywood after singing "Happy Birthday" to Perry. Martin is the first ever contestant in American Idol to receive a golden ticket by singing the song.

Katy Perry Reacts To Taylor Swift

Perry also made headlines after she seemingly stopped herself from throwing shade at Taylor Swift. During the audition, Luke Bryan asked one of the contestants who he looks up to, and the contestant apologized to Perry and said Swift's name.

The "Dark Horse" singer told him that he did not have to apologize because she is also a huge fan of Swift's songwriting skills. However, Perry appeared to have made a face afterward.

Mariah Carey's 'Whistle Notes'

Another highlight from the third round of auditions was when Perry admitted that she cannot sing as high as Mariah Carey. The latter also worked as a judge in the 12th season of American Idol.

The revelation came after one contestant said that she is such a huge fan of Carey that she taught herself how to sing in whistle tones. Perry, Bryan, and Lionel Richie asked what whistle tones are, and the contestant explained that it is singing in an absurdly high register.

After showing off her singing chops, Perry, Bryan, and Richie all gave the contestant a golden ticket to Hollywood.

Katy Perry's 'American Idol' Moments

American Idol has only been on air for two weeks, but it has already made headlines everywhere. Among the three judges, Perry seems to be the one getting the most buzz.

Last week, she made headlines after connecting with a male contestant who used the word "wig" before his audition. Perry said that she understands what the contestant meant, and they hit it off instantly.

Perry was also criticized last week after she kissed a male contestant on the lips. Some people slammed Perry and accused her of sexual harassment. However, Benjamin Glaze said that he was not offended by what Perry did.

"I do not think I was sexually harassed by Katy Perry and I am thankful for the judges' comments and critiques. I was uncomfortable in a sense of how I have never been kissed before and was not expecting it," said Glaze.
