Mike Shinoda surprises his fans with his new song "About You." The track is a collaboration with Blackbear.

Shinoda, the founder of Linkin Park, also released the music video for the song. "About You" features different genres of music, and the song is now available on Spotify and iTunes.

The music video for "About You" opens with Shinoda filming himself while at the airport. He rides the plane and looks out the window.

When he lands in Shanghai, China, Shinoda explores the city before singing the lines to his song. The three-minute clip has already been viewed over 256,000 times after its release.

Mike Shinoda Dishes On 'About You'

"About You" is featured in Shinoda's solo album Post Traumatic, which will be released on June 15. During a recent interview, the musician said that "About You" is not necessarily about his late bandmate Chester Bennington.

"You know part of the thing about the lyrics in this song, which I know you'll appreciate, is I was writing all these songs and a lot of the early stuff on this album was about what had happened and it was about Chester and all that. Then I started trying slinome songs that weren't about Chester and weren't about the whole thing, and I realized that people would hear them as if they were about him," said Shinoda.

The singer added that every time he tries to pen a song that is not about Bennington, it still seems as though it is about the late frontman. Bennington died on July 20, 2017, due to an apparent suicide by hanging.

Chester Bennington's Death

In December of last year, toxicology reports revealed that Bennington had a trace of alcohol in his system. The singer's body also tested positive for MDMA or ecstasy, as well as the prescription medication Zolpidem.

Bennington has always been vocal about his struggles with depression and alcoholism. In 2006, he also checked himself into rehab.

Mike Shinoda Talks About 'Place To Start'

In March, Shinoda penned a lengthy article about Bennington and his death. He said that for the first week after Bennington's suicide, he felt as though he was lost at sea. Eight days after Bennington's demise, Shinoda went back to the studio to start writing his new material. The first song he recorded was "Place to Start."

"I sang it into the phone while it was playing. I liked what that looked like: It felt like I was Skyping or FaceTiming you. I started to shoot things when I was really feeling them so that the sincerity would be there," explained Shinoda.
