Ariana Grande's new boyfriend, comedian Pete Davidson of Saturday Night Live, admits that he is suffering from borderline personality disorder.

In a new interview, the 24-year-old opens up about the mental illness and the criticism he received after news about his romance with the famous pop star surfaced on the internet.

Pete Davidson's Mental Illness

Earlier this month, multiple sources confirmed that Grande has moved on from her breakup with Mac Miller and is now dating Davidson. The new celebrity couple met back in 2016 when the "Dangerous Woman" singer hosted Saturday Night Live. Since then, they have kept in touch with each other and recently fell in love.

Neither of them has addressed the romance in public, however, Davidson seems to have reacted to the hate he is receiving from fans of the pop star who think that he is not the right fit for her. They particularly questioned whether he could keep a healthy relationship when he is suffering from a serious mental illness.

In an Instagram Story, the comic attempted to squash the stigma surrounding borderline personality disorder and assure that he is capable of maintaining relationships.

"Normally, I wouldn't comment on something like this cause f*** you. But I been hearing a lot of 'people with bpd can't be in relationships' talk," he wrote. "I just wanna let you know that's not true. Just because someone has a mental illness does not mean they can't be happy and in a relationship. It also doesn;t meant that person makes the relationship toxic."

This is not the first time that Davidson has spoken about his struggles with his borderline personality disorder. He also spoke about his diagnosis on Marc Maron's WTF podcast in 2017. At the time, he said that he experienced dramatic mood swings that include "blind range" and, at some point, had a mental breakdown that caused him to go to rehab.

Fans do have reason to worry about the "No Tears Left To Cry" singer and her new relationship. A few days ago, the 24-year-old admitted that her romance with Miller turned "toxic" and "scary."

The young artist has not issued a public comment in regard to her rumored new boyfriend's post.
