The ARMY has one more milestone to celebrate. For the first time, BTS topped the Billboard 200 with their latest album, Love Yourself: Tear.

BTS Tops Billboard 200

Following the seven-member group's performance and win at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards, the k-pop group clinched the coveted top spot of the albums chart. This happened a week after the release of their sixth album in South Korea and the rest of the world.

According to Nielsen Music, which tracks albums activities across different metrics in the United States, Love Yourself: Tear moved 135,000 equivalent album units, 100,000 of which were through traditional album sales and 26,000 from streaming equivalent album units this week.

The final numbers tallied by Nielsen Music is a lot larger than industry forecasts which suggested total sales of more than 100,000. By May 24, a few days after the album dropped, the predictions rose up to 120,000 units.

Billboard is set to post the latest albums charts with Love Yourself: Tear taking over the top spot on Wednesday, May 30.

Meanwhile, Post Malone's Pbeerpong & Bentleys finally steps down from the number one spot after three weeks.

Lil Baby's Harder, Five Finger Death Punch's And Justice for None and Cardi B's Invasion of Privacy complete the Top 5.

The newest BTS album also becomes the first primarily foreign-language album to take the top spot of the chart in over a decade. Prior to Love Yourself: Tear, Ancora of the vocal quartet Il Divo dominated the scene in 2006.

The new record set by BTS and its ARMY does not come as a surprise considering that the popularity of the Asian music act has been growing in the past year. Their previous album, Love Yourself: Her peaked at the seventh spot on the Billboard 200 while Wings reached the number 26 in 2016.

The lead single of Love Yourself: Tear, "Fake Love," released on May 18, already crossed over 111 million streams on YouTube.

BTS Festa 2018 Teaser

The new milestone comes just in time for this year's BTS Festa, a special event to celebrate the group's anniversary. It takes place every year, on June 13, and treats fans to loads of new contents, gifts, and more.

On Tuesday, May 29, the k-pop group released the first trailer for BTS Festa. The short video promises surprises starting on June 4, Monday.
