At times, it seemed like Azealia Banks would never actually release new music. With label disputes and Twitter rampages far and away outshining her musical ability, the Harlem rapper's debut album Broke with Expensive Taste has been delayed for years. Now, though, Banks is free from her Interscope record contract and has released her first new song in quite some time: "Heavy Metal and Reflective."

Dark and winding (much like Banks' personality), "Heavy Metal and Reflective" actually proves that away from the Twitter rants and anger toward more successful rappers, there's some real raw talent inside the "212" femcee.

A deep, tribal backing is the driving beat behind "Heavy Metal And Reflective," which also features plenty of handclaps and synth elements to make this song feel like a modern banger. The infectious, driving beat beside, Banks' smoky, husky raps work perfectly with the low song, giving out haunting, dark vibes that fit perfectly with her personality.

Though not nearly as poppy as her breakthrough smash "212," "Heavy Metal and Reflective" reflects a free, adult Banks and it's pretty damn awesome.

"Heavy Metal and Reflective" is a new song from rapper Azealia Banks and her first release since parting ways with her label Interscope, which delayed her debut album Broke With Expensive Taste for nearly two years.

Whether or not the single will appear on Banks' debut album Broke With Expensive Taste remains in the air and the future of Banks' music distribution similarly is unknown, but for now, this is good enough.
