It has been almost ten years since Missy Elliott released her last solo album, The Cookbook, but her longtime producer and songwriting partner Timbaland says a new album may be on its way soon.

"It's coming," he told Rolling Stone. "It's on her. She's got the first single, it's just a matter of when she wants to do it. We got the hollow-tip bullet in the gun. We have the game-changer right there."

As far as what sort of sound to expect, Timbaland gave a vague response. "It's something you ain't never heard Missy do. It sounds today, but the future."

Earlier this year, Elliott confirmed she would return to music but did not give details as to when.

"When I create something, it's gotta be special, and it can't just be to throw something out there," she told Yahoo! Screen. "I gotta feel like what I'm giving fans is 100 percent, and that it's game-changing. I don't just throw out microwave records."

Although she hasn't release a full-length in some time, she did release two new Timbaland-produced songs back in 2012, "9th Inning" and "Triple Threat" and has since made feature appearances on other artists' records including Little Mix's "Without Me," Fantasia's "I Deserve It," and Faith Evans' "I Deserve It."

Timbaland has also been busy in recent years, having co-produced much of Justin Timberlake's The 20/20 Experience, Jay Z's Magna Carta... Holy Grail, and Michael Jackson's posthumous Xscape. He is now at work on a solo album called Opera Noir, which he describes as his Purple Rain.
