As a treat for everyone waiting for the much-awaited My Chemical Romance reunion, frontman Gerard Way has dropped previously unreleased songs "PS Earth" and "Crate Amp_01" yesterday, April 22.

His songs are now uploaded on his SoundCloud page, together with the rest of his previously unreleased works. In a blog post from his website, Gerard Way said that "PS Earth" was "recorded at the tail end of the Hesitant Alien demo sessions, just Doug and I." Hesitant Alien was his debut solo album in 2014 produced by Doug McKean. Way also said that he liked the song well enough at the time, saying that it felt like the '90s.

The other track, "Crate Amp_01," is the start of the aptly-named "Crate amp jam," and the sequel to the earlier-released "Crate Amp_02," which he has already described as a part of "five tracks of [him] messing around" with a Crate amplifier he got

Gerard Way also shared the post on Instagram, captioned with the same blog post together with a picture of the night sky.

Distraction or Despair

In the middle of the quarantine period, due to the global coronavirus pandemic, the musician and comic book writer has already released some of his unreleased projects, including the four-track collection "Distraction or Despair."

He wrote in an Instagram post earlier this month, April 5, that "with all this uncertainty," he wanted to begin " uploading some unreleased stuff" to give people something to listen to anytime. The caption for the picture of Way's vocal cords included that "some of these, like Phoning It In, were things that I planned on releasing as singles, and I may still do that at some point when I finish them, but I figured why not. It feels good to share. Who knows if some of this stuff would have ever come out?"

The quarantine collection courtesy Gerard Way includes the 14-second ringtone-like "Success," 40-second sample "Welcome to the Hotel," "Crate Amp_02," and "Phoning It In (2) VOC."

The Return of the Black Parade

Gerard Way was first known as the frontman for punk rock band My Chemical Romance, which also included his brother Mikey Way on bass, as well as guitarists Frank Iero and Ray Toro. The band's first two albums were 2002's "I Brought You My Bullet, You Brought Me Your Love" and 2004's "Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge," which contained the some of the band's finest hits "Helena," "I'm Not Okay (I Promise)," and "The Ghost Of You."

However, MCR would achieve new heights with their concept album "The Black Parade," which remains their only double platinum to date. The rock opera about "The Patient" is told through the 13-track album, plus a secret track.

Their last albums were "Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys" in 2010, and the five-part compilation "Conventional Weapons" from 2012 to 2013, before their hiatus in 2013.

After six years, the band first announced a My Chemical Romance reunion last October 2019, with a tour date on December 20 that year. Unfortunately, their reunion tour was among the postponed events in light of the global coronavirus pandemic. They started by postponing their Japan schedule slated by the end of March.
