It appears that Kanye West and Taylor Swift have finally made friends after the rapper interrupted the pop singer while accepting an award. However, this friendship did not last very long and even blew up after miscommunication happened between both parties.

February 2016: West Calls Swift B*tch

Kanye West released the song "Famous," and it had questionable lyrics he assured Taylor approved of. The lyrics from the song in his seventh studio album Life of Pablo goes, "I feel like Taylor and I might still have s** / Why? I made that b**ch famous."

West called Swift. He claims lasted more than an hour and that the pop princess thought the line was funny before she gave her blessings.

Swift and her representatives claimed that the country-pop star warned West of releasing the said song. They added that they were not aware of the infamous line.

June 2016: Enter Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian decided to defend her husband by confirming that Swift did approve the lyrics for the "Famous" song. However, the pop star suddenly decided to turn things around to look like she is the victim in the situation. Kardashian added that the call between the two was recorded.

Then, West released the music video for the "Famous" song. In that video, there were plenty of naked wax figures of celebrities that lay beside the rapper. It included the likeness of Donald Trump, Rihanna, Kardashian herself, and, last but not least, Taylor Swift lying closest to West.

July 2016: #KimExposedTaylorParty

Kardashian released recordings of West and Swift conversation where the country-pop singer approved the lyrics for "Famous." In the clips, Swift seemingly agrees with the lyrics by saying it was a "compliment." On top of that, the audio reveals that the "folklore" singer-songwriter intends to let reports know that she approved the lyrics. Kardashian also pointed out sarcastically that it was National Snake Day and ended the tweet with some snake emojis.

This exposure caused the hashtag #KimExposedTaylorParty to trend on Twitter. Swift responds that she was "falsely painted as a liar" despite not knowing the whole situation. Additionally, she believes it was character assassination and that she "would very much like to be excluded from this narrative."

November 2017: Look What You Made Me Do

A year after, Taylor Swift came back with a vengeance in her new single "Look What You Made Me Do." In the lyrics of the song, she mentioned "tilted stages" and how she was made to look like a fool. West had a tilted stage during his Saint Pablo Tour.

In the music video of the song, Swift wore snake rings as a shot at Kardashian's tweet about her being a snake. In one of her tours the following year, she brought a large cobra on stage.

For what happened, Swift calls the West-Kardashian couple "bullies" for orchestrating an online hate campaign and twisting a phone call that was illegally recorded. Swift explained that others were not aware of the events that led to why she got mad she was called that way.

March 2020: Full Version of the West-Swift Call

The full version of the phone conversation was leaked, and many fans believe that the country singer's reaction was justified. Taylor Swift responded by letting her fans know that she was right all along. However, she acknowledged that the country is going through a pandemic by redirecting her Instagram story to a page to Feeding America. On the other hand, Kardashian tweeted that "this will be the last time I speak on this" and that there are "more serious and important matters." It appears that both parties has placed everything in perspective considering that many are suffering due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
