2NE1 should have been promoting until now if this last straw never happened.

The K-pop industry and the fans were left shocked after one of the most sought-after girl groups, 2NE1, announced its disbandment despite the group's record-breaking stint.

Only recently, an entertainment reporter-turned-YouTuber revealed the truth about 2NE1's disbandment.

Why Did 2NE1 Disband?

On December 17, YouTuber Lee Jin Ho uploaded a new video and shared several information about the girl group's split in 2016. He commented on the matter after his interview with ex-leader CL went viral in South Korea, where she claimed she only found out about their disbandment through the news.

The three remaining members - CL, Park Bom, and Sandara Park - were scheduled to continue their promotion as a trio following Minzy's departure. However, their plans got ruined despite their comeback track and album recording were already completed.

According to Lee Jin Ho, YG Entertainment canceled the project because the agency failed to control one member at that time.

"This one member apparently had a hard time making up her mind," he said, as translated by Koreaboo. "This member had written a handwritten note for [then-YG Entertainment CEO] Yang Hyun-suk that revealed her intent to focus on her promotions, but she was unable to keep her promise."

Lee Jin Ho did not name who that member was. But he noted that Minzy's departure caused a reality check for then-CEO, Yang Hyun Suk.

With 2NE1's disbandment, YG Entertainment rescheduled BLACKPINK's debut on an earlier date.

2NE1 Making Comeback Soon?

Years after their disbandment, the group took over the internet again after all members seemingly hinted about their return.

In April, the trio appeared in an interview during one of their radio guestings. At that time, Park Bom accidentally revealed that she and the other members of 2NE1 recorded a track for their 11th anniversary.

The radio host then responded and expressed their shock, asking her if it was okay to announce that.

Park Bom said it was fine to talk about the aforesaid album, but she also clarified they do not know if it would ever be released.

If it happens, the girl group would surely shock BLACKJACKs like what they did when they made during MAMA 2015.
