2NE1 made another record-breaking performance when the four-piece surprised their fans at the Coachella 2022.

Since their disbandment, 2NE1 no longer appeared together in one stage. Still, they bid goodbye in the most epic way by taking the stage of the Mnet Asian Music Award (MAMA) performed their hit song, "I Am The Best."

Seven years after they performed together for the last time, they suddenly appeared on the Coachella stage and performed the hit song once again.

As the members managed to keep it a secret, the girl group's leader, CL, recently revealed how they prepared for it despite their busy schedules.

How 2NE1 Prepared Their Surprise Coachella Performance

In an interview with Billboard after their performance, the "SPICY" hitmaker detailed the preparations they went through without leaking information about their surprise appearance.

Per CL, they started talking and planning two months or more before the event. Throughout the process, they reportedly ensured that they kept it a secret.

So when they began rehearsing, they would drive to Minzy's place since the member has a dance studio. They reportedly waited until 10:00 p.m. or 11:00 p.m. before entering the room.

"It was two weeks prior [in Korea] and then two weeks here [in Los Angeles] to rehearse. So it's been a journey. Like you said, physically, you know, we do this all the time; this is what we do. So that wasn't a big thing. But emotionally, definitely, has been a roller coaster," she explained.

Despite not performing for years, the members are still comfortable around each other, that their preparation felt like they never split as a group at all.

It was also noted during the interview that the members also did not tell the Coachella plans to their teams. CL reportedly told them not to tell anyone, even their mothers.

2NE1 Comeback Possible?

Elsewhere in the interview, the news outlet asked if there is more coming from the girl group. Although CL did not provide a concrete answer, she seemingly expressed that Coachella 2022 is not the end for 2NE1.

"We still can't believe this even happened and we're still digesting that. Our group chat is like going on, we're all still talking - Dara was like, 'I can finally eat!' So we're digesting," she went on.

The group members previously revealed that they had been preparing for new music, and fans are yet to hear them since the announcement.
