Jamal Edwards' death made Ed Sheeran speechless and devastated.

The music industry mourns the untimely death of Edwards, who served as the founding member of the media platform SBTV. His mother confirmed the tragic news to multiple news outlets, saying that he died on Sunday morning.

Following the news, Edwards' close friend, Sheeran, expressed his heartbreak after failing to find the right words to describe his feeling.

On Instagram, the "Perfect Singer" called Edwards his brother whose "light shone brightly."

"I would not be here without him, professionally and personally. There will never be anything close to what he is, but I'm so grateful to have existed within his orbit. My brother, come on," he went on.

He made the post more emotional by sharing a photo of him with the late music icon while they sport similar hoodies.

Fans tried cheering up the singer as they sent him heartfelt messages following the heartbreaking loss.

One said, "genuinely been keeping you in my thoughts. sending love and prayers, ted x."

"SBTV. I'll Never forget how he gave you a chance when no one else did," another wrote.

"RIP Jamal Edwards. Giving God thanks that you did what he sent you to do ️ So many of us owe our careers to you bro," George the Poet posted on Twitter. "Thank you for everything."

What Happened to Jamal Edwards?

Sheeran's heartbreak came after Edward's mother issued a statement, saying that she and her family are devastated. Brenda Edwards said that Jamal died after a sudden illness.

"As we come to terms with his passing, we ask for privacy to grieve this unimaginable loss. I would like to thank everyone for their messages of love and support. Jamal was an inspiration to myself and so many. Our love for him lives on, his legacy lives on," she continued.

The matriarch did not mention what exactly her son suffered from. But Jamal Edwards' death left a massive impact in the industry as he became part of it for half of his life.

In 2006, he launched SBTV (SmokeyBarz TV) helped the careers of now-A-list artists, including Sheeran, Jessie J, and Skepta.

After growing his success, he dedicated his time to philanthropy that he became an ambassador for the Prince's Trust. In 2014, he received an MBE (Member of the British Empire) award for his music contributions.
