James Brown will be seen by his fans again through the A&E documentary, "James Brown: Say It Loud."

A&E confirmed the documentary's arrival on Friday, announcing that it greenlit the four-part flick about the late singer. Mick Jagger and the Roots' Questlove and Black Thought will come together as the executive producers.

As quoted by Rolling Stone, the company said that the four-hour docuseries would celebrate Brown's legacy. It will also feature videos, interviews, and a never-before-seen footage with the singer's family, friends, and collaborators.

Mick Jagger has since commented on the project, expressing how thrilled he is to produce the four-part docuseries to tell the story of James Brown's life and career.

"He was a brilliant performer who inspired me from the beginning and was deeply committed to the Civil Rights movement. I have always admired James and learned so much from him. I look forward to bringing the series to life," she said.

Meanwhile, Questlove and Black Thought both explained how important it is to understand Brown's musical impact, saying that it would prove the deep and lasting impression he left in the American music industry and culture.

What to Expect on "James Brown: Say It Loud"

Based on Brown's hit song "Say It Loud (I'm Black and I'm Proud)," the documentary will focus on the singer's ups and downs. Per A&E, it will highlight Brown's transformation and growth to become one of the most influential singers of the 20th century.

"James Brown: Say It Loud is a definitive look at a complicated life and a reflection on the immense impact Brown continues to have as a musical and cultural trailblazer," A&E went on.

Months after Brown released the track, he showed one of the most important performances of his career when Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated. On April 5, 1968, he played a concert in Boston despite local leaders' concerns.

"This was not going to be another hit record by a black entertainer like my dear friend Sammy Davis, Jr.'s 'Candy Man,'" he noted. "This was the real thing, a wake-up call, a rallying cry, a statement of pride."

Brown's "Say It Loud (I'm Black and I'm Proud) became a civil rights movement's anthem. It scored the No. 1 spot on the R&B chart for six weeks and secured No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.

"James Brown: Say It Loud" exact release date remains unknown. But it has since been confirmed that it will be out sometime in 2023.
