NSYNC's fans are probably singing "I Want You Back" literally after the band shared a new cryptic post online.

The rise of boy bands decades ago eventually led to the birth of NSYNC. The five-piece band -- which includes Chris Kirkpatrick, Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, and Lance Bass - immediately rose to fame when they debuted in 1997 with their hit single, "I Want You Back."

Despite their award-winning albums, the band eventually went on a hiatus in 2002 and has never released new music ever since.

But recently, NSYNC seemingly hinted that they are brewing something for fans after two decades.

NSYNC Comeback: Will Band Return After 20 Years?

On Tuesday, the official Twitter account of the boy group shared a cryptic post alongside the caption, "Something is coming."

The photo features the words, "Vol. 7, Coming Soon" and a woman wearing a multicolored shirt.

Although NSYNC did not release further details about their post, fans immediately commented and assumed they would be back soon.

One shared a photo of her wearing an NSYNC sweatshirt, saying, "wore this at work this morning and I had so many compliments on it. Everyone misses you guys. Its amazing how many people still love you!! Me included. I love you guys with my whole heart always & forever!!"

They also asked them whether they could have a reunion in the future.

NSYNC Keeping in Touch With Fans

Although they have not released new music for more than 20 years, NSYNC shared their 20th-anniversary collection on their official website last year.

The members occasionally reunite for a stage performance or a project in the past years. For what it's worth, they have attended award shows and events since 2003.

During the Grammy Awards that year, they regrouped and performed a Bee Gees medley to pay tribute to the band. They also got together when they performed "The Star-Spangled Banner" at the 2004 NSYNC Challenge for Children.

From 2005 onward, they constantly dropped greatest hits albums and unreleased songs.

While waiting for an announcement, Fatone recently hyped their fans by expressing his desire to replace Joe Gatto on "Impractical Jokers." He said during the Q&A panel at Fandemic Tour Atlanta that he wants to replace Gatto, but he was a little daunted by it.

"He's really good at it. I'll probably come out and do stuff [on Season 10]. We're actually gonna be shooting some more Afterparty stuff, the show that I host, we're shooting in April at some point. They've already shot episodes as well and they're bringing some celebrities in to fill in those gaps," he said.
