Taylor Hawkins was the true "rock & roll hero" who gave life to the rock industry, Paul McCartney proclaimed.

As more tributes for Taylor Hawkins continue to pour, McCartney joined the group and honored Hawkins for the last time.

In a heartfelt message on Wednesday on Instagram, the former member of The Beatles said that Taylor Hawkins' death was too sudden that it shocked him and the people who loved the drummer.

"Not only was he a GREAT drummer but his personality was big and shiny and will be sorely missed by all who were lucky to live and work alongside him," he said.

The 79-year-old rocker also recalled the time when Foo Fighters called him to play on one of their tracks. The band, at that time, was trying to seek his assistance in playing the drums for "Sunday Rain," a song from Foo Fighter's "Concrete and Gold."

Foo Fighters, Paul McCartney Meet Again

The recording session was not the first interaction they had.

A few years later, Foo Fighters reached out to him again and asked him to induct them into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2021.

"Taylor provided a powerhouse drum part. I'll never forget that night. All of which made it much more of a desperately sad shock to hear he had died. So thanks Taylor for sharing some glorious minutes with me. You were a true Rock & Roll hero and will always remain in my heart," he went on.

McCartney sent his heartfelt message after Hawkins' untimely death. The drummer passed away on Friday in a hotel in Bogota, Colombia. Local health officials confirmed that Bogota's emergency center sent an ambulance to the hotel after receiving reports about a patient with chest pains.

The medical responders immediately tried performing a resuscitation to revive the musician. Unfortunately, he did not respond and was later declared deceased.

The Colombia's Prosecutor's Office confirmed in a statement on Saturday that the toxicological tests on his urine showed 10 psychoactive substances and medicines.

It has also been revealed that Hawkins' heart already weighed double the average for men of his age.

The Daily Mail quoted forensic experts' statement, saying that Hawkins' heart weighed at least 600 grams - which was heavier than the average of 300 to 350 pounds.
