It seems Justin Vernon, most famously of Bon Iver and Volcano Choir, is working on yet another band called Jason Feathers. It is a collaborative project with his Bon Iver bandmate S. Carey (drummer) and "cerebral rapper" Astronautalis (Andy Bothwell).

Jason Feathers has seemingly been in the works for quite some time; two years ago Astronautalis posted Instagram and Tumblr photos of Jason Feathers group working in the studio. They reportedly recorded for a week and made eight songs. "I think everyone should abandon their expectations of what it's going to be, because it's probably going to be very far off," said Bothwell in a later interview.

"We're trying to disturb things a little bit," said Vernon about the project in an interview in 2012.

The recording took place in Vernon's April Base studio in Wisconsin. It is the same studio in which his Grammy Award-winning self-titled Bon Iver album was recorded.

Word on the Jason Feathers grew silent until it was revived via an intriguing short teaser video called "De Oro" on the Totally Gross National Product site, which you can view above.  There is still no official word when the album comes out.

For now, Vernon has released one song under Bon Iver called "Heavenly Father," which is his first release under that moniker since his widely acclaimed album in 2011. He released an album last year with Volcano Choir, Reprave. Vernon also relased the Grownass Man LP through his other project, Shouting Matches. He also worked with Kanye West on Yeezus.
