It's been five years since Nelly Furtado last released an album, and it seems like a new project is coming out soon as the singer has been spotted in Colombia, where she's been reportedly recording new songs.

According to Billboard, the "I'm Like a Bird" songstress' only posted two photos on her Instagram account over the past two years, but she's active in her stories where she documents her South American exploration.

It appears that she's working on new music as the singer recorded a few videos from Papaya Studios over the Memorial Day weekend.

Furtado was spotted hanging out with Li Samual, lead singer of Bomba Estéreo. She also shared a selfie with the caption "gracias."

Colombian-Canadian artist Lido Pimienta also shared crucial information about the singer's new album as she confirmed that she's collaborating with the star.

"The rumors are true, Nelly Furtado is in Barranquilla. She came to see me, she came to hang out and support a project we've been doing for my next album and other things," she wrote on Twitter.

The singer added that she's excited for fans to see and hear everything they're working on.

In another snap, Pimienta shared a photo of them together eating homemade Guajiria food like bean fice, salpicón with plantain, and fresh mango juice.

In the last update, Furtado posed along with Carlos Romero, Pimienta's cousin, who also serves as her producer.

The singer thanked her cousin for making sure everything worked perfectly for both of them.

As of this writing, Nelly Furtado has not confirmed if she's releasing a new album anytime soon or not, aside from her collaboration with Lido Pimienta.

The singer is popularly known for her Billboard Hot 100 tracks like "Promiscuous," "Give it to Me," and "Say It Right."

This isn't the first time Furtado collaborates with a Colombian artist, as she already teamed up with Juanes for "Fotografia" in 2002.

She also released her Spanish-language debut album in 2009, titled "Mi Plan," which contained collaborations with artists like Julieta Venegas, Luis Guerra, and Alejandro Fernandez.

The last time Nelly Furtado released an album was in 2017, titled "The Ride." Last year, she also surprised her fans by releasing a 15th-anniversary edition of "Loose" with 12 remixes and bonus tracks that were initially inaccessible on online streaming platforms.
