Nikki Sixx has been in the rock industry for quite a while; now and then, he would go online to watch their old performances. However, there was one time that he had a realization about rock music.

In an interview with Classic Rock, the musician said he "dug into YouTube" because he was looking for old videos of their previous performances.

Upon watching the clips, the bassist admitted that they were embarrassing but also realized that rock 'n' roll should be that way.

"[Rock stars] should be ridiculous, we should be outrageous, we should be pushing envelopes and we should be rebelling against each other. We're supposed to be loud and rude and in-your-face," the rocker said. (via 94.1 KRNA)

Per the outlet, the musician's description of rock 'n' roll reflects his band Motley Crue as they remained one of rock music's wildest acts due to their music and on-stage antics.

Speaking about his opinion about the current state of rock music, Sixx offered a criticism, saying the genre is "extremely overproduced in many cases," and he misses the "slop."

"I miss some of the flat notes. I miss when a guitar player doesn't exactly come down perfect. I kinda miss some of the nuts and bolts of just being in a raw rock 'n' roll band," he added.
