Sunday night (Aug. 10), the 2014 Teen Choice Awards took over FOX in an insane blend of enthusiasm, colors, surfboards and arm flailing from Teen Wolf star/host Tyler Posey. In addition to gravity-free Instagrams and live performances from the likes of Demi Lovato, Cher Lloyd, Rixton and MAGIC! a few awards were given out for the best teen-friendly music of the year.
Though the only surfboards given out to musicians for the night went to Lovato, Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande, dozens of categories were announced during the pre-show and following the live broadcast.
Teen favorite boy band One Direction ran away with the award show, taking home nine surfboards in total for Choice Music Group, Choice Love Song (“You and I”), Choice Summer Tour and Choice Fanatic Fans for the Directioners. (Harry Styles solo also took home Choice Smile.)
Other winners include Ed Sheeran, 5 Seconds Of Summer, Katy Perry and judges from The Voice.
