Alanis Morissette has been one of Canada's homegrown talents as she brought big honor to the country because of her success in the music industry. Recently, she was inducted at the Canadian Songwriters Hall Of Fame where Olivia Rodrigo gave a speech about the icon's impact on her music.

According to NME, the "SOUR" hitmaker addressed the crowd at Massey Hall in Toronto, Canada, over the weekend during the singer's induction ceremony.

During her speech, the 19-year-old pop star said Morissette's iconic 1995 album, "Jagged Little Pill," changed her life at a young age because it was an album that she'd never heard before and it appears that the record still holds a big standard because Rodrigo claims she "haven't heard anything quite like it since."

The "deja vu" songstress then commended the icon for her vocals, saying it could be "fierce and tender" and could instantly change into something "funny and playful."

Regarding the essence of the record, Rodrigo said her idol captured "the anger, the grief and the love of the human experience better than anyone."

Morissette's music catalog has the power to unite people and empower the public for their overall healing.

"Alanis, you're a trailblazer and you've inspired an entire generation of uncompromising, radically honest songwriting," she added.

Olivia Rodrigo Continues to Praise Alanis Morissette

Elsewhere in her speech, the Grammy Award-winning pop star mentioned that aside from being a big influence in music through her songs, she also looks up to Morissette for her character and kindness.

She added that if there would be a Hall of Fame for people who are incredible and honest, the "Hand In My Pocket" hitmaker would be inducted into it.

This was not the first interaction between the two powerhouse singers as Rodrigo had been a fan of Morissette for years.

Earlier this year, the Disney star performed at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, California, where she was accompanied by Morissette to duet the 1995 song "You Oughta Know."

The year prior, the two collaborated on a Rolling Stone podcast feature where they discussed their careers and songwriting journey.

Morissette also gushed over her friendship with Rodrigo during an interview with Kelly Clarkson, saying she wanted her to be a "tour survival kit."
