Meghan Trainor claims the nurses who cared for her and her kid at the time of his admittance to the neonatal intensive care unit intimated that she was to blame for it. In this interview, she also likened her son to a serial killer, considering he did not cry as much when he was born.

The 28-year-old "All About That Bass" singer told Romper in a story published last week that the nurses were asking her whether I was on antidepressants during my pregnancy. She revealed that she was, but at the lowest dose imaginable. In her defense, she also said that she secured the go signal of her doctors to take these meds.

"It was extremely messed up," she continued.

Riley, now 1 years old, was admitted to the NICU because he had difficulty waking up to eat. She shared that he simply refused to wake up.

The nurses are not entirely wrong though. According to a comprehensive study conducted in Sweden and published in 2016 in the journal US Pharmacist, maternal antidepressant usage during pregnancy is related with a greater likelihood of NICU hospitalizations.

Thankfully, Trainor's son was discharged from the hospital and was able to return home with her and her husband, Daryl Sabara.

However, the "Me Too" singer stated that she and the "Spy Kids" actor were still concerned about their child's lack of crying. She recalled how they kept wondering if this is how "serial killers in the making" were when they were infants.

Jokes aside, Trainor stated that she felt the need to maintain her composure and not give in to her anxieties. She said mothers and wives do not have the luxury of crying and moaning about difficult days. Instead, they have to act like they have everything together.

Trainor has previously discussed the "terrifying" birth of her son, who was breech and consequently had to be delivered through C-section.

In June 2021, the "Like I'm Gonna Lose You" singer stated on the "Today" show that it was the worst feeling to just see her child for a second before being taken away.

However, this has not prevented the Grammy-winning artist from wanting to extend her family. Trainor stated in August that she hopes to become pregnant by the end of the year.
