Because of the Rick James-sampled track, Nicki Minaj became had her first solo No. 1 track on the charts and the third overall. She also became the first rapper to have a solo song debut on the charts this century.

A hip-hop performance from a rap royalty like Minaj would not be far-fetched, especially with the hip-hop giants (Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, May J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar) who performed recently.

When a netizen asked to be given context, a fan pointed out a similar move that The Weeknd did before his Super Bowl Performance - he released "The Highlights."

Currently, Nicki Minaj's Super Bowl performance remains speculation just because of the coincidence.

As of this writing, Nicki Minaj has neither denied nor confirmed the claims.
