Rage Against the Machine is set to perform across North America in 2023, but it appears that fans won't be seeing them soon as they canceled their tour due to Zack de la Rocha's foot injury.

Taking to their official Instagram account, the frontman shared a statement regarding the cancelation of their tour dates, saying it's been three months since they performed their first show, but he still looks down at his leg in disbelief.

Their tour has been canceled over the past years due to the pandemic and he was hoping to see fans again, but due to his injury, he couldn't continue.

"My tendon tears. Felt like a sick joke the universe played on me. As I write this I remind myself it's just bad circumstance. Just a f***** up moment," he added. (via Billboard)

De la Rocha noted that his injury hindered him to perform and he needs time to recover from what happened. He explained that the incident during their first show has left him with a severe tear in his left Achilles tendon and only 8% of that body part remains intact.

The vocalist further explained that the situation is not about being able to perform again, but rather the "basic functionality going forward."

Zack de la Rocha Hates Canceling Shows

The star said he hates canceling shows and disappointing fans, before adding, "you have all waited so patiently to see and that is never lost on me. I never take that for granted."

Thanking his team, Tim, Brad, and Tom, as well as all the people behind the production, he noted that he wanted to see them again very soon.

On the last slide of the post, the band explained that fans who purchased passes through Ticketmaster or AXS will receive automatic refunds within 30 days if they used a non-cash method of payment.

For those who bought tickets using cash, fans should contact the box office directly.

As of this writing, it's unsure when the band will go back on tour as they haven't announced a new set of tour dates.

The recent cancelation comes three months after the band kicked off their reunion tour in Alpine Valley, Wisconsin. Their next show was in Chicago where the vocalist injured himself while performing on stage.

While singing "Bullet in the Head," fans noticed that the singer have been sitting on a stage monitor to rest but it didn't stop him from hyping the crowd.
