Good news for The xx fans! After five years of waiting, it appears that the famous group is getting back together to release music again despite having successful solo careers individually; when are they releasing new music?

According to Uproxx, bassist Oliver Sim released his first album titled "Hideous Bastard" as a solo artist last month. On the other hand, his bandmates: Romy Madley Croft has been dropping music under her solo moniker "Romy" while Jamie xx has been traveling to different cities across the globe to perform at festivals.

Speaking to Kyle Meredith on Consequence's "With..." podcast, Sim shared the group's plans of getting back together, saying that even though they've been busy individually over the past years, they're planning to get together and release new music.

The last time they dropped an album was in 2017 titled "I See You."

Although the bassist has been thriving in the solo music scene, he noted that The xx will always be his "home" and "priority," and even though he doesn't speak for his bandmates, he knows they feel the same.

"It's like, how is this gonna change the band? What have we all learned independently? And nothing is recorded at the moment, but there is more music from The xx, definitely," he added.

Their bond and closeness are apparent on Instagram as the band's official account is still active and features photos of them together.

Oliver Sim Cancels Highly Anticipated Tour

Last month, Oliver Sim shared devastating newsx to his fans, saying he won't be pushing through his debut solo tour.

Offering an explanation to those who already purchased tickets, the singer said one of the reasons why he wrote and created the album was because he imagined it to be performed live.

However, "timing is everything" and things don't work the way he wanted to sometimes.

He later revealed that his scheduled shows in September and October are canceled, noting that fans needed to wait "a little longer."
