Is Bruce Springsteen retiring?

At 73 years old, Springsteen already reached the milestones other rockers are yet to reach. But ahead of his new album and new tour, the rocker revealed that he could not imagine retiring from the industry - indicating that he wants to keep working on his music in the next few years.

On Monday, he shared his plans during an interview on SiriusXM's "The Howard Stern Show." He spoke about his career and compared himself to Johnny Cash and Pete Seeger.

"I can't imagine [retiring], you know? I mean, if I got to a place where I was incapacitated or something but up until then, I think I'm... I mean, look at Johnny Cash, Pete Seeger," he said.

For what it's worth, Cash and Seeger continuously worked as musicians into their golden years. In fact, Springsteen himself experienced performing with Seeger during Barack Obama's inauguration in 2009.

Although he believes he will not be able to always do three-hour shows, he told everyone he has music-related works he can still play and do.

Instead of giving up on his fruitful career, Springsteen told Stern elsewhere in the interview that he feels lucky to become a successful musician.

In fact, his love for his work makes him think he would have still done it even without getting paid.

Bruce Springsteen's Plans Explored

The interview was recorded ahead of his scheduled projects.

Springsteen is scheduled to release his new album, "Only the Strong Survive," on November 11. He revealed to the show's host that it contains 15 songs, but 40 more tracks were left behind.

In February 2023, he and the E Street Band will start their North American tour and conquer 31 venues starting in Tampa, Florida. It is expected to end in April.

The rocker told SiriusXM channel E Street Radio host Jim Rotolo that he felt excited after marking his first tour in six years.

"It's kind of mind-boggling, to be honest with you. It doesn't feel that long, but... I've got the jones to play live very badly at this point. So I'm deeply looking forward to getting out there in front of our fans," he went on.

After the North American leg, Springsteen and the band will jet to Europe and start the tours in May.
