Nearly three years after "Frozen 2" was released, a musician filed a lawsuit against Disney due to an alleged copyright infringement over one of the movie's songs.

Reuters obtained a copy of the lawsuit on Wednesday, showing musician Daniel Grigson's name as the plaintiff. He filed the case in Los Angeles Federal Court on Nov. 1, where he accused the songwriters of the "Frozen 2" song "Some Things Never Change" of copying parts of his track, "That Girl."

Per Grigson, the track plagiarized his song's melodic structure and chord progressions. He alleged that some parts of the lyrics were also copied illegally.

His band, Neccos for Breakfast, dropped "That Girl" in 1999 and had been played over a hundred times on Trusonic, a business-music platform. It remains available on other streaming platforms.

The musician took his time to tell the court that he has an educational nonprofit, Sprout Experience. He revealed that he has a "very public history of writing original music for and with children."

"His 11-year-old daughter leaned over to him and said 'Dad, Disney took your song,'" his representative said in the filing.

Both songs talk about "some people never change" in the lyrics.

Meanwhile, a news outlet released further details about the case. Grigson purportedly hired an analyst to compare the two songs.

Aside from sounding alike, "Some Things Never Change" and "That Girl" are also similar on a technical level.

With that, he started seeking damages and profits Disney made from the song. He also urged the company to stop using it.

Who Wrote the "Frozen 2" Song "Some Things Never Change"?

The song in question was written by Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez. The main characters of the Disney animated film - Elsa (Idina Menzel), Anna (Kristen Bell), Olaf (Josh Gad), and Kristoff and Sven (Jonathan Groff) sang the track.

Robert and Kristen have been the recipients of several accolades. For Robert's part, he became the youngest and quickest musician to become an EGOT.
