Selena Gomez has been making headlines since the release of her Apple TV+ documentary titled "My Mind & Me," and her mother, Mandy Teefey, recently revealed that she refuses to watch the film; what could be the reason?

Speaking to Jay Shetty's "On Purpose" podcast, the former actress said she will not watch her daughter's latest project as it would be too emotional for her.

The former Disney star's documentary tackles her struggles with mental health, fame, as well as her battle with lupus.

Even though the movie received rave reviews from fans and critics which enticed Teefey to watch it, she said it was her own decision to avoid the project as she doesn't want to relive the events that happened to her daughter.

"We went through that and found healing. We've moved past some of it," the mother said.

She added that even though her daughter went through problems and Teefey didn't know what the singer had been through, she will not watch it as it's going to affect her as a mother.

"It's going to hurt my stomach and put me in that mindset. I'm going to wish I could go and protect her," she added. (via People Magazine)

However, Mandy Teefey is not closing her doors as she needs more time in order for her to be ready to watch the Apple TV+ film, noting that maybe she could get through the holidays so she wouldn't constantly come up to her daughter to apologize for her for not knowing some of her struggles.

Sharing an inspirational quote about parenting, the mother added, "You want to take away your kids' pain. You don't want them to have to experience that."

Selena Gomez Recalls Watching 'My Mind & Me' For the First Time

In the same interview, Selena Gomez revealed her true feelings upon watching herself in the documentary for the first time.

The Rare Beauty founder first noticed that she didn't recognize the girl she was watching on the screen. However, there were moments when her heart felt broken, especially when she talked about her body and public image.

Her main inspiration to get through her problems was her younger siblings, Gracie Elliot Teefey on her mother's side and Victoria and Marcus Gomez on her father's. Her fans were also a big part of her moving-on process.

"My Mind & Me" is now available for streaming on Apple TV+.
